HP has released a new 14-inch laptop model featuring an OLED display with a 2,880 x 1,800 resolution. The machine supports up to 32 GB of RAM and is currently available for purchase.

Why it matters

The introduction of this high-brightness display standard in the 14-inch form factor provides consumers with more options for HDR-capable portable computing. This model sits within the competitive market of premium thin-and-light laptops.

The laptop features an OLED panel with a 2,880 x 1,800 pixel resolution and a 120 Hz variable refresh rate. Peak brightness hits 500 nits in SDR mode, rising to 1,100 nits for HDR content.

The players

A global hardware manufacturer known for its extensive portfolio of personal computers, printers, and enterprise infrastructure solutions.

The details

This laptop utilizes an Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display—a technology where individual pixels emit their own light to achieve high contrast ratios. Users configure hardware specifications, including storage options of 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB, at the point of checkout. Connectivity choices include either Bluetooth 5.4 with Wi-Fi 6 or Bluetooth 6.0 with Wi-Fi 7 capabilities.

The laptop release was announced on October 5, 2026.

The Tech Race

This release follows the industry-wide move to integrate high-brightness OLED panels into the 14-inch thin-and-light laptop category. It positions HP directly against competitors utilizing 1,000-nit-plus display benchmarks in the premium portable segment.

Consumers can order the device immediately with configurations starting at $1,299. Customization options at checkout include selecting from two premium color finishes, Starlit Blue or Sahara Silver, for an additional $20 or $40 respectively.

The takeaway

This laptop offers a high-performance display option for users prioritizing HDR content brightness. Potential buyers should monitor available store configurations to determine if specific memory and storage combinations meet their workflow requirements.
